March 12, 1988: David Lee Roth peaked at Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Just Like Paradise."
One of 1988's more hotly anticipated rock records, 'Skyscraper' came as something of a shock when they discovered that Roth had a more keyboard-heavy sound that incorporated emerging pop trends.

August 6, 1988: Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses moved to Number 1 on the Album chart after 50 weeks.
Guns N’ Roses’ debut album, Appetite for Destruction, was the darker, grittier response to Sunset Boulevard’s glam-rock scene.
