George Jackson, a staff songwriter at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, wrote the "One Bad Apple" for The Jackson 5.

December 18, 1966: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! premiered on US television. 

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" featured the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." It was performed by Thurl Ravenscroft, best known as the voice of Kellogg's Tony the Tiger, announcing, "They're gr..Gr..GR.. GREAT!".

Long before Sammy Hagar hit as a solo artist, much less joined Van Halen, his biggest success on the charts came courtesy of Rick Springfield’s 1981 cover of the song “I’ve Done Everything For You.” Back then, Springfield joked that there was a secret to his success.

Norah Jones topped the Billboard charts in 2002, and the following year Come Away With Me went on to secure eight Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, and in the intervening 12 months it received critical acclaim from just about every quarter.

"Janie's Got a Gun" was the brainchild of singer Steven Tyler, who wrote the initial melody on keyboard, but couldn’t produce the right lyrics to go with it.

May 11, 1981: Bob Marley, the King Of Reggae, died of a brain tumor at 36. 

In 1976 Bob Marley survived an assassination attempt by three gunmen at his home in Hope Road in Jamaica; just five years later he was taken down by a malignant melanoma originating in his toe.
