November 30, 1982: Michael Jackson's Thriller album was released. It produced seven singles, including "Beat It," which featured guitarists Eddie Van Halen.

November 30, 1968: Steppenwolf made it to Number 3 in the US with "Magic Carpet Ride."

"Magic Carpet Ride" was Steppenwolf's second big hit. The first, "Born To Be Wild," was released a few months earlier on their debut album. The band was best known for these two hits, but they developed a tight-knit fanbase known as the "Wolfpack."

November 30, 1985: Twisted Sister entered Billboard's Hot 100 with a cover of the 1960s girl band hit, "Leader of the Pack." 

November 30, 1996: Duncan Sheik made his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Barely Breathing."

Duncan Sheik accompanied artists like Lisa Loeb and His Boy Elroy before releasing his self-titled debut in 1996.

Not only did "Barely Breathing" peak at 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it stayed on the chart for a record 55 consecutive weeks. It also hit Number 2 on the Adult Top 40, 10 on the Mainstream Top 40 and 19 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

November 30 2001 The first Top Of The Pops UK Awards were held in Manchester, with categories voted by viewers of the BBC show. Winners included Best Single: Kylie Minogue, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head."
