The Divine Miss M: Take Three

1. Bette Midler moved to New York City in 1965. She worked the gay male bathhouse scene with Barry Manilow. Her most famous nickname, the Divine Miss M, comes from her years at the Continental Baths.

2. Her debut studio album, Divine Miss M,  was co-produced by Barry Manilow in 1972. It features several singles that have become Midler classics, including "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."

3. "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" was the B side of the album's second single, "Delta Dawn." Because of competition from Helen Reddy's version (blog-post here), the single was flipped, with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" becoming the new A side.
