March 16, 1996: Alanis Morissette entered Billboard's Hot 100 almost in the Top 10, at Number 11, with "Ironic."

Alanis Morissette was never particularly attached to “Ironic,” which largely stood apart from the autobiographical narrative of the Jagged Little Pill album.

October 11, 1980:  "I’m Alright" by Kenny Loggins from the film Caddyshack reached Number 7 on the Billboard hot 110 single's chart.

It’s hard to imagine now, but Kenny Loggins wasn’t the king of the soundtracks heading into 1980.

September 21, 1996: Sheryl Crow debuted more the halfway up the  Billboard Hot 100, at Number  44, with "If It Makes You Happy."
When Crow released the song on her 1996 self-titled album, “If It Makes You Happy” was the lead single and an instant radio hit.

August 3, 1971: Paul McCartney announced that he had formed a new band called Wings with his wife Linda and former Moody Blue guitarist Denny Laine.
After the Beatles' break-up in 1970, McCartney recorded two albums: McCartney (1970), credited to himself, and Ram (1971), with wife Linda.
