March 6, 2005: The American television series Intervention premiered on A&E. It featured the theme song "Five Steps" by The Davenports from their album Speaking of The Davenports.

March 6, 1965: The Temptations made history when "My Girl" became the first male Motown act to score a Number 1 single.

Smokey Robinson and Ronald White, both of The Miracles, wrote "My Girl" in the Apollo Theater while The Temptations played as part of a package tour with The Miracles. When The Temptations heard it, they convinced Robinson to let them record it instead of The Miracles.

March 6, 1971: The novelty hit "Chick-A-Boom (Don't Ya Jes' Love It)" by Daddy Dewdrop (aka Richard "Dick" Monda) entered Billboard's Hot 100. The song reached Number 9.

Daddy Dewdrop was Dick Monda, who produced music for the animated television series Groovie Goolies in 1970. "Chick-A-Boom (Don't Ya Jes' Love It)" was written and originally recorded the show.  Monda released his own version from his self-titled 1971 album. The single ranked number 34 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 of 1971.

March 6, 1982: "Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson entered the US music chart.

Wayne Carson, who wrote The Box Tops' 1967 #1 hit "The Letter," wrote "Always On My Mind" while working at a recording studio in Memphis. He lived with his wife in Springfield, Missouri, and the trip to Memphis took ten days longer than expected.

She let him have it when he called to tell her he'd be there even longer. He tried to assuage her by telling her she was "always on my mind." Popular versions of the song were recorded by Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee, Elvis Presley, and Pet Shop Boys.

March 6, 2000: Eric Clapton became the only person inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame thrice. He was also inducted as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream.
