December 24, 2012: Miley Cyrus' YouTube channel uploaded her cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" as part of The Backyard Sessions.

December 24, 1818: Franz Gruber of Oberndorf, Germany, composed the music for "Silent Night" to words written by Josef Mohr. Stevie Nicks closed out the very first A Very Special Christmas album in 1987 with her version of the song.

December 24, 1966: Tommy James & the Shondells recorded "I Think We're Alone Now."
 "I Think We're Alone Now" was written by Ritchie Cordell, a producer at Roulette Records who wrote many of their hits. It hit Number 4 in the US.

December 24, 1971: Ricky Martin was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Ricky Martin began appearing in commercials at age six and was a member of the teen singing group Menudo until he turned 18.

In 1999, his successful first English single, "Livin' La Vida Loca," helped his self-titled album debut at Number 1 on the Billboard chart. Martin was featured on the cover of Time magazine.

December 24, 2005: James Blunt first appeared in the top 40 section of Billboard's Hot 100 when his single, "You're Beautiful," moved from Number 46 to Number 22.
