"Love on the Rocks" by Neil Diamond appeared in the 1980 movie The Jazz Singer and was performed by Diamond on the soundtrack album to the film.
Released as a single, it reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in January 1981. The song also made it to #3 on Billboard's US Adult Contemporary chart. Billboard rated it as the Number 26 pop single overall for 1981.

October 27, 1984: The Honeydrippers entered the Top 40 section of Billboard's Hot 10 with a cover of Phil Phillips' "Sea of Love."
The Honeydrippers were a pet side project of Robert Plant's. They were made up of Led Zeppelin alumni Plant and Jimmy Page, Yardbirds alumnus Jeff Beck, Nile Rodgers from the band Chic, and Late Night with David Letterman's Paul Shaffer. Shaffer plays keyboards.

October 27, 1990: INXS reached Number 9 in the US with "Suicide Blonde."
The lyric to "Suicide Blonde" was inspired by Kylie Minogue, who was INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence's girlfriend at the time. When she told him she was planning to dye her hair "suicide blonde," he used it as the title.

October 27, 1997: Natalie Imbruglia released "Torn" from the album Left of the Middle. Songwriters Anne Preven and Scott Cutler wrote "Torn" with Phil Thornalley, a producer who had worked on albums by The Cure, XTC, and Edwyn Collins. The track found its way to Natalie Imbruglia when co-writer Thornalley ended up working on her first album.
