The lyrics from Aqua’s 1997 smash hit “Barbie Girl” are undeniably still a part of the social consciousness 25 years later.

November 1, 1970: Matthews Southern Comfort were at Number 1 on the UK singles chart with a cover of the Joni Mitchell song "Woodstock." It was the group's only UK chart topper. In the US, the track reached Number 23 in the Billboard Top 100.
November 1, 1986: "Daydream Believer" by The Monkees re-entered Billboard's Hot 100.
In 1986, three of the four Monkees (Dolenz, Jones and Tork) mounted a successful reunion tour and had a major hit with the newly recorded "That Was Then, This Is Now." Arista Records, which owned the Monkees' masters at the time, rereleased "Daydream Believer" as a follow-up single.

Unlike prior MTV Unplugged performances, which were entirely acoustic, Nirvana used electric amplification and guitar effects during the set.

Alanis Morissette's "Hand In My Pocket" was originally chosen as the Dawson's Creek theme, but the singer pulled out at the last minute. The network had already licensed Paula Cole's song "I Don't Want to Wait" for the promos, but Paul Stupin, the executive producer who oversaw the show's music selection, hadn't considered it for the main theme.
