"Patience" by Guns N' Roses was released as a single in 1989. The song is considered a classic hair metal ballad.

Music History Today: February 28, 2022

February 28, 1985: Uriah Heep, lead singer David Byron, died at 38 years old from liver disease and seizures caused by excessive consumption of alcohol. 
David Byron is probably one of the greatest voices hard rock ever had, being Uriah Heep’s front-man from 1969 to 1976, but unfortunately he is not remembered often.

December 3, 1977: Willie Nelson began recording the studio album Stardust.
At the height of outlaw country, Willie Nelson pulled off perhaps the riskiest move of the entire bunch. He set aside originals, country, and folk and recorded Stardust, a collection of pop standards produced by Booker T. Jones.

December 8, 1980: John Lennon, 40 years old, was shot and killed outside his apartment in New York City.

Forty years ago today Annie Leibovitz photographed John Lennon and Yoko Ono at their apartment in New York City for a feature in Rolling Stone. Lennon autographed an album for a man in the morning.

September 19, 1943: Cass Elliot (of The Mamas & The Papas) is born Ellen Naomi Cohen in Baltimore, Maryland.

Cass Elliot, aka Mama Cass, was part of the group The Mamas and the Papas. Their song, Creeque Alley,tells about the events leading to the 1965 formation of The Mamas and the Papas.

July 29, 1974: Thirty-two-year-old Cass Elliot, a one-time member of The Mamas And Papas, suffered a heart attack and died in London. Her biggest solo hit was 1968's "Dream a Little Dream of Me."
"Drean a Little Dream of Me" came out in June 1968, credited to “Mama Cass with the Mamas and the Papas,” angering the band, who had already been dealing with inner turmoil for some time.

Music History Today: April 20, 2020

April 20, 1971: Five friends at San Rafael High School in California coin the term "4:20" as a euphemism for smoking pot. April 20th becomes a popular day to spark one up. 
The most credible story traces 4/20 to Marin County, California. In 1971, five students at San Rafael High School would meet at 4:20 p.m. by the campus’ statue of chemist Louis Pasteur to partake. They chose that specific time because extracurricular activities had usually ended by then.
