October 19, 1958: Brenda Lee recorded "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree."
Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has interpreted by artists as diverse as Miley Cyrus, Bill Haley, and Kim Wilde, but Brenda Lee’s remains the ultimate version.

October 19, 1968: The super-group Cream entered the US Top 40, moving from Number 50 to 22, with "White Room."
“White Room” by Cream is a very experimental song. The lyrics are a bit out there and the introductory time signature is non-standard.


Combine that with Bruce jumping in and out of falsetto, Clapton liberally using his whammy bar and fuzz box and you have a very trippy experience.

October 19, 1973: David Bowie released his seventh album Pin Ups, containing cover versions of tracks by Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things, The Who, The Yardbirds and The Kinks.
