The Beatles performed "All You Need Is Love" June 25, 1967, as the representatives of the United Kingdom on the Our World TV show . “It was the first worldwide satellite broadcast ever,” Ringo Starr said years later. “It’s a standard thing that people do now, but then, when we did it, it was a first. That was exciting – we were doing a lot of firsts.”

"Rock And Roll Part 2" by Gary Glitter is probably the greatest example of "glam rock," which was characterized by male lead singers dressed in outrageous, usually feminine clothes singing anthemic songs with massive drums. Glitter, by his own admission, wasn't very good at music.

July 29, 1978: Jefferson Starship barely missed another US Top 10 hit when "Runaway" peaked at Number 12.
When Jefferson Airplane became Jefferson Starship, they left behind full-throttle, psychedelic rock and roll and swapped it for more thoughtful, soft pop ballads. "Runaway," which was on their 1978 Earth album, showcased lead singer Marty Balin's plaintive vocals, with soul-piercing lyrics and a memorable melody anchoring.
