May 2, 2009: Eminem's "We Made You" enters the Billboard Hot 100 in the American Top 10, at Number 9.
Produced by Dr. Dre, "We Made You" was the lead single from Relapse, Eminem's first album for four and a half years.

The song namedrops a number of female celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Palin, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Amy Winehouse.  When it entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #9, Eminem had the highest placed debut of his career.

May 2, 1959: "Since I Don't Have You" by doo-wop group, the Skyliners, peaked at Number 7 on Cashbox Top 100. 
The Skyliners are one of the best known doo-wop groups.  Their million selling hit song "Since I Don't Have You" is pop standard and a landmark song in pop music history. With that hit the Skyliners became the first group to feature a string arrangement in a rock and roll song.

May 2, 1970: Neil Diamond entered Billboard's hot 100 chart at Number 68 with "Soolaimon (African Trilogy II)."
“Soolaimón” was a track from Neil Diamond’s sixth studio album, Tap Root Manuscript, released in 1970. The album was one of the most experimental he ever recorded.

It uniquely showcased African sounds and instruments. The album ended up being a commercial success, with “Done Too Soon”, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” and “Cracklin’ Rosie” among his other Top 40 single releases.

May 2, 1981: Gary U.S. Bonds' had a hit when "This Little Girl" moved to Number 40 on the American music chart. 
"This Little Girl" was written by Bruce Springsteen and has its origins in the 1978 outtake "Ain't Good Enough For You" from the Darkness on the Edge of Town sessions.

The outtake version was eventually released on Springsteen's The Promise in 2010. The song was notably recorded by Gary U.S. Bonds for his album, Dedication. It was the first of two single releases from the album.

May 2, 1992: Ugly Kid Joe peaked at Number 9 his 9th week on the Billboard chart with "Everything About You."

"Everything About You," the debut single of American heavy metal band Ugly Kid Joe, gained popularity after being featured in the 1992 hit film Wayne's World and was later included on the band's full-length debut album, America's Least Wanted, which was also released in 1992. The pop-metal song was a commercial success around the world.
