I blogged about my favorite movie scene from Beetlejuice earlier (link here). The characters were playful, the story was funny and the soundtrack perfect. In my top five favorite scenes from any movie, any time would be this one from A Home at the End of the World. A heart-warming film about unconventional families, it has one of the best soundtracks ever. In this scene, a young Colin Farrell and his best friend's mother (played by Sissy Spacek) dance to Laura Nyro.
Laura Nyro, born Laura Nigro, was an American songwriter, singer, and pianist. She achieved critical acclaim with her own recordings, particularly the albums Eli and the Thirteenth Confession (1968) and New York Tendaberry (1969), and had commercial success with artists such as Barbra Streisand and The 5th Dimension recording her songs.
